United States Penitentiary Leavenworth
The United States Penitentiary opened it's doors in 1895 at the old military prison on Fort Leavenworth. By July 1897 construction began on the new facility. Sun up to late afternoon inmates built the flagship of the Bureau of Prisons.
The institution has housed the most notorious criminals in American History. Frank Nash, Machine Gun Kelly, the Birdman, serial killer Carl Panzram, Frank "the enforcer" Nitti, Jack Johnson, Dr. Frederick Cook, Thomas James Holden, & Russell Buffalino just to name a few.

Born in Louisville, Ky Kenneth M. LaMaster joined the army right out of high school and after completing basic training was sent west, Leavenworth, Ks. While stationed at Fort Leavenworth I worked at the United States Disciplinary Barracks.
After meeting a marrying a local girl I left the army and began working at the Kansas State Penitentiary and then the United States Penitentiary. In all I did 31 years plus working as a Correctional Professional.
Besides the United States Penitentiary Leavenworth I have completed two other books titled Fort Leavenworth released in 2010 and Leavenworth due for release October 9, 2017
