"In To Have Hoped, Kerry Trautman travels from assured serenity to nervous longing, through poems that challenge the fences of our beliefs in the stabilizing factors of this world. What seems so certain can slip away, what seems unknown can make itself apparent. These are the recognitions this fine collection understands. A year in the life, a life in metaphor, the seasons as prelude to our shifting beliefs. From the anxiety of a winter storm stranding the speaker inside, to backyard gardens brimming with flora and fauna, these speakers demonstrate the capacity of our humanity to hold on to, as she says, '…everything I love scurrying inside.' If you believe the world is more than just an empty stage for our chronologies than you will believe, and revel, in Kerry Trautman’s poems."--Tim Geiger, author of Cathedral, The Curse of Pheromones, and Blue Light Factory.
