Carole Steele writes about places near and dear to her heart. Her interest in writing local history began when she self-published her first book in 2003 titled Pictorial History of Mono Hot Springs, California. Throughout forty years of collecting and selling antique scenic postcards, she wrote several articles for the hobby's publication Barr's Postcard News. Several postcards from her vast personal collection are among the images used in this book to depict how the Hacienda property evolved through the decades.
Carole's parents were members of Castlewood Country Club in the 1950s and 1960s. Fond childhood memories of carefree days spent at the Club motivated her to write the first-ever history of this Pleasanton, California landmark.
Carole lives in southern Oregon with her husband. Other activities include membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. She also enjoys tending her summer garden and researching genealogy.
