Joanne S. Bodin, Ph.D., is a retired educator and an award-winning author. Her latest novel, Orchid of the Night won three awards: The 2017 NYC Big Book Award as "distinguished favorite" in LGBT Fiction; the 2017 NM/AZ Book Award in LGBT Fiction, and was a Finalist in three other categories; and the 2018 NM Press Women Communication Contest as Second Place for adult novel. Her novel Walking Fish won the New Mexico Book Award in gay/lesbian fiction and placed finalist in three other categories. Her book of poetry, Piggybacked, was a finalist in the New Mexico/Arizona Book Awards. Her poetry has appeared in various poetry anthologies and literary journals. She is a watercolor hobbyist and plays jazz piano.

She is currently working on a memoir about her experiences in California during the Sixties.
