"Dirty Breadwads" (a Hansel and Gretel re-telling), is the tale of Hammer and Metal, grunge ukulele players who get kicked out of their apartment and have to find their way in a difficult world, eventually facing up to the Wicked Twitch. It's my contribution to In Short -- a collection of tales which includes work by some of my teen lit author heroes: Avi, Gloria Skurzynski, Vivian Vande Velde, Terry Trueman, Joseph Bruchac and more.

About CS Perryess (San Luis Obispo, California Author)

CS Perryess

After decades of loving his job teaching middle school, CS Perryess now spends his time writing, revising, editing, and revising some more. He writes for "tween" readers in that elusive spot toward the later end of middle grade and the earlier end of young adult. Though his novel-length manuscripts haven't found publishing homes yet, he's had good success with short stories (READ Magazine, Pangolin Papers, Eureka Literary Magazine, Highlights for Children, Short Story, and a few anthologies).

CS Perryess also narrates and produces audiobooks for Audible and enjoys helping out at events run by SLO NightWriters and Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators.

In addition, he posts a weekly article about etymologies, anagrams, word puzzles or some other word-based foolishness at Wordmonger (his blog - csperryess.blogspot.com).
