About Candice Mary Thomas (Grants Pass, Oregon Author)

Candice Mary Thomas

Candice Thomas was born and raised in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. After receiving degrees in English Education from Oregon State University and Library and Media from Southern Oregon College, Candice taught sixth and seventh graders until having her first child. She then remained in education throughout the next fifty years, substitute teaching, homeschooling, working in in her church’s children’s ministry, then teaching or administrating in Christian schools and her church.

Now retired, Candice is a wife, mother, and grandmother who loves being with her family, playing on hands and knees or simply providing a listening ear. She enjoys reading, writing, walking, swimming, sewing, and knitting. She currently resides in Southern Oregon with her husband, Terry, and her very silly little mini-dachshund, Bentley.

Additional history:

At the age of thirty-two, life took an amazing change for Candice. She attended a non-denominational Christian service and learning the importance of having a personal relationship with Christ, committed her life to Him.

This began her forty-year journey with Jesus. Candice began studying the Bible, seeking God’s truth for her life and that of her family, and because she is passionate about children, she wanted that truth for them also. She began teaching Sunday school two weeks after accepting Christ, then continued in Christian education, teaching and directing children’s church and working with teens or college-aged groups.

In 1988, she began teaching in a Christian school, was asked to develop a middle school program for a high school, became a principal and administrator, helped found a preschool through the twelfth-grade program, and in 2015 through June 2017, directed a birth through the fifth-grade program at her church Candice began writing Jesus’ Words for Teens—Obedience when she felt God urge her to help teens dig into the Bible to develop a life devoted to Him, with lifelong convictions and unshakeable unbreakables that would lead them through life’s troubling times. This study took over two years to refine and is now ready for use by church small groups, families, and/or Christian schools. Candice is currently working on the second in the series—Jesus’ Words for Teens—Standing Tall.
